me: When we met he said I was shy.
....there's a bit of a distinction here.
I shy, as in the verb, under many circumstances, especially new ones.
but I am not shy, the adjective.
mercy_angel_09: Yeah.
Oh man, why is it that men can't take the blatant truth? Seriously? Do we need flashing neon signs and a flashy dance number to make sure they understand what we say?
me: .-. I think it's... well, partly a guy thing and partly an American thing, and party an export culture thing.
the whole bit about the big strong man (or nobly faithful heroine!) who waits until his/her true love Comes To Their Senses.
even when people don't really believe that, hope + media programming tends to be pretty strong.
mercy_angel_09: True. We need more real media programming - the team loses the big game and hero doesn't get the girl in the end!
me: maa, I don't know... I like happy endings.
mercy_angel_09: I think we all do. ^_^ I'm a sucker for them.
me: but life, if you do it right, isn't supposed to be a string of happy endings. it isn't supposed to be a string of any kind of ending: if the journey analogy doesn't apply here, then at least it's supposed to be a chain of perpetually unresolved cliffhangers.Current Mood: accomplished
